CONSULTATION FOR
FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS
& PARTNERS OF PEOPLE WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES:
ONE-ON-ONE INFORMATION, SUPPORT & REFERRAL
Family workshops and support groups can be very helpful, but sometimes you
also need to talk with a compassionate, knowledgeable person who can address
your family’s questions directly.
Family consultation will help you handle complicated situations that can arise
when you have a relative, partner or friend with a mental health issue and/or
substance abuse issue.
Specifically, family consultation can provide:
Practical ideas for handling family situations that can develop when a member
has a mental health or substance abuse disorder
Help in understanding and coping with symptoms of various disorders, such
as bipolar disorder, major depression, borderline personality disorder,
schizophrenia
or schizoaffective disorder
Referral to appropriate groups and resources
Individualized support for family members who are experiencing “caregiver
burnout” from various perspectives, including parents, siblings,
spouses/partners,
and adult sons/daughters
This service is free if you or your loved one live in Philadelphia.
